First Computer Virus

The first widely known computer virus was created in 1983 by student Fred Cohen as part of his cybersecurity research. This virus, called "Elk Cloner", was written for the Apple II operating system and was distributed via floppy disks. It was relatively harmless, simply displaying a poem after the 50th launch of an infected program, but demonstrated the ability to create and distribute programs that could cause damage to computers and data.

Original Purpose of the Internet

The modern Internet we know today was originally created as a research project called ARPANET. It was developed by the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) in 1969. The goal of ARPANET was to create a decentralized network that could continue to function in the event of a partial loss of communications, such as a nuclear war. This network eventually evolved into the modern Internet, which has become a global platform for communication, information exchange and commerce.

Stories of great IT innovations

Welcome to our section dedicated to amazing and inspiring stories of great IT innovations. Here we will tell you about those inventions and discoveries that radically changed the world of information technology and had a huge impact on our daily lives. Immerse yourself in fascinating stories of how ideas were born, challenges were overcome, and technologies we now take for granted were created.

Birth of the World Wide Web
In the late 1980s, scientist Tim Berners-Lee, working at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), developed a concept that forever changed the way the world exchanged information. He created the first web browser and server, which led to the emergence of the World Wide Web (WWW). This idea was born out of the need to exchange information between scientists around the world, but quickly spread beyond the scientific community. In 1991, Berners-Lee published the first website that described the WWW project and provided free access to use it, ushering in the exponential growth of the Internet.

The history of the smartphone
In 2007, Apple introduced the first iPhone, which combined the functions of a phone, a music player and an Internet device. Steve Jobs, the head of Apple, showed the world a device that changed the way we look at mobile technology. The smartphone not only provided users with access to the Internet and various applications anywhere and anytime, but also opened up new opportunities for developers, creating entire industries around mobile applications. Today, smartphones have become an integral part of our lives, allowing us to stay connected, work and have fun on the go.

The Rise of Open Source Software
The concept of open source software has radically changed the IT industry, making software development more democratic and accessible. One of the first major projects in this area was the Linux operating system, created by Linus Torvalds in 1991. Linux quickly gained popularity due to its flexibility, reliability, and ability to be freely used and modified. A community of developers from all over the world began to actively contribute to the project, making it better and more functional. Today, open source software is used everywhere, from servers and supercomputers to mobile devices and consumer electronics.

These stories of great IT innovations remind us how one idea can change the world. Get inspired, learn, and maybe one day you'll be part of the next great story in the world of information technology!
